Day 10: Monday 9 October 2017, Pigeon Falls (Dollywood)
We got up and pottered a little this morning, had a quick brekky at McD’s because we weren’t sure where or when we would get a chance to eat and Dennys seem to be as rare as hens teeth here in Tennessee not like in LA where they seem to be on every other corner.
We set off after getting some petrol. We had used three quarters of a tank of fuel and so when I went to fill up I said to put $80 in and the lady laughed at me and asked where we were from when I replied Sydney she said oh I thought so the car won’t take anywhere near that. Finally enough and very happily the car took $30 to fill even though it is the great big Kia.
Along the way we got stuck in an hour of traffic which was really frustrating however the drive was really pretty as all the leaves are different colours in the fall here. Then we got stuck for another half hour or so because of an accident and we didn’t realise that we had gone through another time zone and had lost another hour so we actually arrived in Dollywood at around 5pm. We had a quick look around and watched a show and what we saw was really pretty so we didn’t regret going there but had to leave at 7:15 to go for dinner and a show at Dollys Dixie stampede. That was something else!!!!! And the food was incredible and there was so much of it!!!!
After the show was over and we headed to the Clarion Inn hotel and checked in and apart from the Best Western first room that we stayed in this one is beautiful it had pools and water slides and everything about this place is really lovely would definitely rate a 10 out of 10 and we get free breakfast tomorrow which is even better!!!!!!
Whilst we did some washing and waited for the dryer the girls went swimming and I dangle my feet and it was lovely and relaxing and still 24° at midnight.
Wow Dollywood looks as good as Disneyland... have fun!
