Day 16: Sunday 15 October 2017, NY

Jo and I were up and off for breakfast across the street before we started off for the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

We finally found the right bus and climbed aboard. We had a tiny bit of light rain and the bus ride took about 45 minutes. Jo (her ever multitasking self) booked tickets for the evening for a broadway show called Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
Upon arrival at the memorial, the feeling was immediately somber and so sad. It is still so unimaginable. Being amongst the sheer size of the buildings it seems to surreal that such an horrendous thing could have taken place. Everyone was quiet and respectful. We saw things that had been found from some of those that perished, papers that fell from the buildings and had burned. I pray that we never see such a sad ever again.
We left the Museum after a few hours and took a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and then as time was of the essence, we ubered back to the hotel, had John’s pasta for a very late lunch, met the girls and we headed off to find Charming Charlie’s before Beautiful started. We had a little browse and then headed to the musical.
I knew Carole King sang and wrote the theme song Gilmore Girls and a few others but I had no idea of the extent of her songs. It was an amazing musical. One of the best I’ve seen. If it comes to Sydney, Mum totally needs to go see it!!
Jo, Kel and I had a late supper and then we headed back for bed.
