Day 11: Tuesday 10 October 2017, Mountain Lake Lodge (Dirty Dancing)

It’s Dirty Dancing day! We woke up and packed up had a wonderful night and went downstairs for our complimentary breakfast which was the first one we had had for the entire trip. The excitement was in the air as we were headed for Mountain Lake Lodge which is also known as Kellerman’s for the dirty dancing movie. We played the soundtrack a few times on the way here setting the scene for ourselves :)

I have to say a couple of times as we drove here that I had a sense of foreboding it wasn’t a bad feeling however it wasn’t a feeling that I could seem to shake that we weren’t going to be able to stay in Baby’s cabin which was the room we had booked and longed for since we had booked the trip.

So we stopped at Denny’s for a quick late lunch and within an hour we had arrived. Indeed there was a mix up with the room but blessedly we were ably assisted by the GM (thanks to Kel and Jo) and they said it will take us a while to clean the room (as the housekeepers had gone home for the day - and indeed it did) so we did our DD self tour and went for a cocktail at the bar and just as we were finishing they told us that the room was ready. Some of the other guests that had just arrived in the bar were starting to watch the movie whilst they had a few drinks but we wanted to take our bags to the room and settle in which we did very quickly and we went back to have dinner and relax. As the movie finished we moved seats so that we could watch it properly from the start. We had a glass of wine or two and met some new friends and really enjoyed ourselves so the day was totally saved and it was everything and more that I dreamed it would be. We are now able to re-watch the movie and notice certain things that we have been to and seen which is totally such a wonderful experience that I will never forget ❤️
