Day 18: Tuesday 17 October 2017, Honolulu

Sooooo the alarm went off at 2am and the pack up began. It was as cold, actually colder (7°C) than before we went to bed and the streets and footpaths were virtually empty. We hadn’t seen NY sleep and it pretty much looked like it was at that point.
The shuttle showed up full of people despite me calling and speaking with the company about ensuring they had a vehicle big enough for 12 bags..... so we stood outside in the cold on the street getting harassed by the beggars and feeling intimidated for the first time whilst in NY because there weren’t any people around.
So another big van arrives and WE loaded most of the stuff in. The van bounced and rattled us all the way to JFK, we got in, checked our bags and had coffee and a snack before we could board.
We paid a few extra dollars and had Delta Comfort seats and in addition bulkhead..... which meant we had so much legroom we couldn’t reach our screens without taking seatbelts off lol #firstworldproblems
I sat next to a lady named Jazmin who was a delight to talk to. I talked her ear off particularly when we encountered some bumpy turbulence however she was seriously fascinated with the Becky Higgins app. It kept me kinda distracted. It wasn’t great weather and therefore pretty bumpy :(
Our plane was delayed in Seattle: fancy that.... rain in Seattle, so we were delayed until just after 1pm Seattle time until we took off. Flight was so much better and was 5 hours 8 minutes.
Beautiful Hawaii 🌺 love it already. People are lovely first up 💗
We got settled into our room at Waikiki Shores and it is very large including a laundry bathroom and kitchen and we are very happy with it. Jo, Kellie and I went down for dinner and cocktails because it’s Kellie’s birthday in Australia and we had a lovely evening. At 9 PM Hawaii time it is 3am in New York and we officially left home to 24 hours ago so the exhaustion is starting to settle in…
